The 2024 Winners of the North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year Officers’ Award
Ford Super Duty, Kia EV9, Toyota Prius, and Prius Prime are the winners.
The winners of the 2024 North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the YearTM (NACTOY) award were revealed today after hundreds of hours of research and three voting rounds. At a press conference held at Pontiac’s M1 Concourse and co-hosted by the Automotive Press Association (APA) and the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA), NACTOY executives announced the winners.

This year marks NACTOY’s 30th anniversary. In July, the organization released the first list of 52 automobiles that qualified for the prizes. This list was whittled down to 25 cars that were named “The Best of 2024” at the Detroit Auto Show in September. It was then further reduced to 9 exceptional finalists, who made their announcement at the Los Angeles Auto Show. NACTOY jurors used their knowledge and experience to vote for the 2024 NACTOY award winners by spending hundreds of hours researching, test driving, and assessing cars on automotive innovation, design, safety, performance, technology, driver satisfaction, user experience, and value.
According to NACTOY President Jeff Gilbert, “Our winners demonstrate the fact that a modern vehicle must be a combination of style, utility, and technology.” “I applaud the fifty jurors for their superb selections.”

These are the new car awards that have been going since 1994 and aren’t connected to any one publication. Fifty expert automotive journalists from a range of print, web, radio, and television media outlets in the US and Canada rate them. Deloitte LLP securely tallies the votes, guaranteeing that every phase of the award cycle represents the aggregate verdict of all jurors. Prior to the envelopes being revealed onstage during today’s event, the votes for the 2024 NACTOY winners were kept a secret.

A new iteration of the well-liked hybrid vehicle from the manufacturer is the Toyota Prius Prime. In the truck market, Ford’s Super Duty pickup truck maintained its lead, while Kia emerged victorious against Genesis and Hyundai Kona in the utility vehicle segment.
